I have to say this.

I'm tired of all the coverage on the pope. Yes, he's dead. The Pope is Dead. We know, you've been telling us every few minutes on the radio and television. Maybe it wouldn't bother me so much if we still had our digital cable. In an effort to get more done around the house, Kirsten and I decided to scale waaay back on our television watching. The easiest way to do that was to no longer have access to Comedy Central, The Discovery Channel and HGTV. So the plan that we're on through Time Warner Cable is called - basic lifeline - apparently they think we will die if we don't have at least 18 channels. Unfortunately, two of those are "Shop at Home", two are public access and one is NBC. You know NBC, the network formerly known for entertaining shows. The whole "must see TV" thing has died. Their prime time ranking, as celebrated by Conan O'Brien. . . So, needless to say, without a ton of options to choose from we're stuck with the networks covering everything PJP is doing, which isn't a whole lot lately.

  • Josh - I agree, it is a lot of coverage for the pope. I am interested to see if he was covered more at his death than at all the points in his life combined. I will admit this massive coverage on him has been "educational" about the role of the pope in the world, and maybe the coverage is even revealing the worldwide respect that still exists for the catholic church and its leadership. Props on cutting back your TV watching too. Jennie and I usually only watch on Wednesday nights, cause we're hooked on "Lost" and "Alias." After a few weeks, I realized that Alias really isn't a good show, but it at least reminds me of Jason Bourne and his adventures.
